Importance of Unstructured play

Unstructured play is most overlooked thing in todays parenting. Our kids’ toy baskets are filled with electronic toys, most of which serve them no good.

Unstructured play time has multitude of benefits from developing cognitive abilities to flourish social skills.

I give my kids atleast one hour of free play time daily., In that time they
Explore
Create
Recycle
AND
Tinker with their broken stuff.

Many a times i am left in an aweย ๐Ÿ˜ฒย looking at their imagination and creativity. It gives them the space and pace they need to bolster their creativity .
I can see their specialties and interests . My son is pretty good at creating new things, exploring ,recycling, and arranging same things in different patterns and my daughter is good at pretend plays by making sounds of different characters . (She is actually best at another thing as well and that is imitating her brother๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค—).
They both do experiment by mixing different materials . They do
small projects.
put up small shows like shadow puppetry.

It gives kids that much needed power, independence, and autonomy .๐Ÿ’ช

It helps them both share great bonding๐Ÿ‘ซ. They have started sorting out their squabbles by themselves. And alhumdo lillah they do share things now.ย ๐Ÿ‘

For unstructured play they have few toys, sticks, soil, sand, flour, play dough, news papers, paints, stones, twigs and leaves, poster paints, thermopole sheets, old shoe boxes and sometime they do use some random stuff from the house depending on what they are going to create.๐Ÿ€๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒผ

I do attach their artwork in different folders they feel cherished and celebrated when i value their creations.โฃ

Here i have posted few pictures of their unstructured play activities.

To keep your kids sane in summer vacations, give them plenty of unstructured play time. If you cannot afford mess in home. Let them join some good summer camp.
